Organic Online Marketing Works Better
Thursday, 11 February 2010 09:52
When it comes to Online Marketing, conducting organic search engine optimisation will always win over paying for listings.
Any online advertising company will argue that most people click the first results on a page, those often come from advertising on search results. The postion of these ads is normally above standard or "organic" results, those earnt by hard graft, and to the right. However recent research has show this to be incorrect. In actual fact, the majority of people (70%) are clicking on those organic search engine results. More clicks means more leads generated.
Does this mean Pay Per Click (PPC) is useless?
Of course not. One of our clients is going up against a long established market leading firm, the only reasonable way to over take them for search results is to target them through Pay Per Click and it works, leads are generated, should the statistics be accurate, they are possibly capturing up to 30% of search results their competitors are appearing under. That is a success story, and confirmation of the validity of PPC.
Tell me how organic can save me money?
Realistically most companies can achieve high organic listings for free. With a reasonable amount of competition, a Smith and Wise or similar standard website will be well optimised, have been submitted to search engines and due to geographical factors, your website should rank reasonably. A few other things such as adding keywords on a page by page basis and link building can also help.
The important thing to note is that PPC is useful, but not the be all and end all of getting your website working well in search engines.
